Prepare for emergency situations in prehospital environments with FREC 3.

SMS Training has teamed up with Patronus Rescue International to provide this Ofqual regulated pre-hospital care qualification, ideal for those who have a specific responsibility to respond to emergency situations. With both practical and theory-led assessments this course will benefit learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency situations. It will also prepare them to be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective prehospital care in situations which can arise when providing emergency treatment and/or management.

Who would benefit from this course?

This course will allow learners to be prepared for a number of trauma situations and although desirable, requires no previous First Aid training to enroll. Therefore, this course would be recommended for those seeking a career in the emergency services and ambulance service. However, this course would also benefit individuals working within high risk environments. Therefore, some of the other roles that would benefit most from this course include:

  • Event first aiders
  • Fire fighters
  • Police fire arms and medics
  • Close protection operative (Security Industries Authority (SIA) approved)
  • Expedition Leaders UK and overseas
  • Journalists working overseas

Course content:

This course is separated into a variety of modules over a five-day learning period alongside guided learning hours, resulting in a certificate which is valid for three years if completed. Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and abilities required to deal with a range of prehospital care emergencies, including: managing a patient’s airways, heavy bleeding, caring for fractures and more. Assessments for this course include

  • 13 Practical Assessments
  • 3 x Theory Assessments (multiple choice questions)
  • 4 x Skills Tests
  • Continuous assessments throughout the course

Progression Route

Once completing this course, participants can go on to complete FREC 4, 5 and 6 meaning the participant will then have the ability to progress and to apply for Paramedic registration with the Health Care Professions Council(HCPC) if they choose.
